Making strategy simple with artificial intelligence
This episode was recorded in German.
Proven recipes for everyone who finally wants to make strategy work simple with AI
Strategy often feels big and complicated: collecting documents, preparing data, building analyses, aligning everyone on the team. Artificial intelligence can take over a large part of that work, but only if it's used the right way. In our podcast, Christian Underwood and Fabian Wennemer, Chief Product Officer, go live inside StrategyFrame®AI to show what that looks like in practice: from the situation analysis to the target picture to the locked-in strategy.
Strategy never starts on a blank slate
Every strategy development starts with the situation analysis. Because no company starts from zero: there are existing strategies, studies and presentations that serve as a foundation. "In strategy development, we always start with the situation analysis, because as a rule no company starts on a blank slate," Fabian Wennemer explains. That's why every interaction in StrategyFrame®AI begins by simply uploading all existing documents, unsorted. The tedious collection work shrinks to a minimum.
Four steps instead of chatbot chaos
From the uploaded documents, the AI extracts the relevant statements along the guiding questions of each module: first collect data, then prepare it, then look at it descriptively, and finally interpret it. The result: charts, data formats and key statements as a basis for discussion in the strategy workshop. The AI also shows which data is still missing for the decisive questions. On top of that, you can add external sources such as Market Intelligence. And at every point, users can step in manually.
Out of the silos: together instead of alone
Strategy doesn't emerge in one-on-one sparring. The knowledge about regional markets, from other business units or from industry association studies sits with different colleagues. "So get out of your silos and into the Market module," is how Christian Underwood puts it. In StrategyFrame®AI, the team sees the progress on each of the six fields, customers, markets, competitors, trends, general environment and your own realities, and can see who is currently working in the platform. At the end, the owners confirm that a module is complete. A recent study from the University of Innsbruck confirms the approach of combining multiple perspectives and different data in a multi-agent system.
Making differentiation visible: the value curve
The Winning Proposition module is about customer benefits and superior profits: what do we do better or differently than our competitors? Here, StrategyFrame®AI works with the value curves from Blue Ocean Strategy, both for today and for the future. Teams decide for themselves how they work: directly on screen or fully analog on a flip chart. The AI builds the curve, the team reviews and adds to it.
Lock in the strategy, then build on it
Once the analysis, target picture and fields of action are filled in, StrategyFrame®AI can create and lock in the strategy at the push of a button. That gives the AI a clear foundation for execution: the strategy you've put into words, instead of every single analysis and every uploaded document. The strategy stays unchanged until things happen that make an update necessary in the next cycle. And everything you've entered can be developed further later, for example when the value curve shifts during execution.
Make it simple without losing impact
Fabian Wennemer's conclusion is clear: "I don't think developing strategy has ever been this simple, and I don't think it's ever been this much fun." The part that used to be so tedious as research can now be done quickly. "Even though strategy always seems like such a big and complicated topic, we've actually created a solution here that boils it down to a minimum, without losing any impact."
