Meet your digital strategy tool | StrategyFrame®

The digital strategy tool StrategyFrame®: strategy made simple, digital, fast, and easy to apply

In this article, you'll get an inside look at StrategyFrame®, our new strategy software. Oliver Kern is co-founder of StrategyFrame® and, as Chief Product and Learning Officer, he is responsible for the content of our digital strategy tool. He holds a degree in computer engineering, is an entrepreneur through and through, and a learning expert.

Martin Kundt is a board member of Know How! AG, the leading provider of learning ecosystems, based in Stuttgart. He leads the technical implementation of our digital strategy tool StrategyFrame®.

Learning processes in companies have to change fundamentally today. Learning is increasingly becoming a strategic task, and it can be understood as the challenge of creating new things in ever shorter timeframes.

StrategyFrame®  as an example of software as a service – how strategy is made simple

The StrategyFrame® software gives you a central hub for everything strategy work requires. It's a digital helper at every step along the workflow of end-to-end strategy development and execution.

StrategyFrame® provides all the resources strategy makers need inside an organization. In the second workflow step of StrategyFrame®, the analysis, all process steps and to-dos can be mapped and retrieved with ease.

What does workflow learning mean and what are the five moments of need?

Workflow learning and the five moments of need are two sides of the same coin:

Workflow learning is also known as performance support or, more recently, as digital coach or flow learning.

The five moments of need is a learning theory that describes how a person learns cognitively. There are five distinct moments. A person can...

learn something new (new) deepen knowledge (more) apply knowledge (apply) solve a problem (solve) relearn something already learned (change).

At work, though, everything revolves mainly around doing (apply). Given the pace of our times and constant change, learning methods have shifted over the years. Guidance is needed at the very moment of doing. Employees no longer learn first in a seminar or course and then apply what they've learned.

Today, learning processes in companies revolve around the apply moment. Solving a problem and learning something new now go hand in hand.

Thinking in terms of the five moments of need calls for a complete rethink of how knowledge is shared and how people learn, and it requires companies to design clear workflows. The same applies to strategy processes.

AskDelphi – the digital learning ecosystem based on the five moments of need

AskDelphi is the platform we used to build StrategyFrame®. The tool is built around application. What matters is the task at hand: the context is set by what the task requires, not by the knowledge already in place.

Knowledge is only added to the action in a second step. So users decide for themselves how much additional knowledge they need to carry out a task. Depending on the user's level of strategy experience, learning can move faster or slower.

If a new employee is being onboarded, for example, they can click through StrategyFrame® freely and start making entries right away if needed.

The difference from traditional training: users decide for themselves, based on what they already know, how much knowledge they need to actually carry out a task.

The tool gives the people responsible for strategy in the company everything they need to lead strategy processes.

AskDelphi has been used successfully for more than seven years, internationally and across industries, at organizations such as Bayer AG, Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe, Colgate, McKinsey, and Meta.

The program makes knowledge easy to apply and delivers practical know-how with concrete, actionable instructions.

What is AskDelphi technologically based on and how secure is the company data there?

Microsoft Azure has been the cloud service provider from the start. The program is hosted in Western Europe in compliance with data protection law, and no data is transferred elsewhere. That ensures legally compliant operation.

Using Microsoft cloud services also means the platform integrates smoothly into other Microsoft services and into existing corporate IT environments.

Simple and straightforward: integration of StrategyFrame®  into the corporate IT environment

Individual teams are integrated directly into the platform so internal and external communication connects cleanly and seamlessly, usually via Microsoft Teams.

Integration runs conveniently via single sign-on, so you can start using the platform right away, even as an external user.

StrategyFrame® supports strategy workshops and strategic analyses, and it lets you present and share the results (as a PDF, for example) so the strategy is actually lived.

StrategyFrame® also tracks progress and delivers strategy prompts again and again.

What is there to consider technically if you are interested in StrategyFrame® ?

The good news: not much. StrategyFrame® is a software-as-a-service solution. All you need is working internet access and an up-to-date browser. The tool takes care of the rest.

What matters most inside a company is mindset. There should be a shared understanding that change will be implemented consistently and with a common approach. That means employees go through a transformation as well, and an organization should embody that intent.

StrategyFrame® is a digital strategy tool and a technical learning platform that makes it easier to turn ideas into reality. Employees don't just use it to design a strategy, they're taken along on the journey. A motivated strategy team that trusts the company and the organization is essential here.
